2 Month Appt

It is hard to believe James is already TWO months old! The dreaded two month appointment yesterday has come and gone. We are still laying low in our pj's and recovering from the aftermath by cuddling and sleeping all day. Perfect for a rainy day like today.

At his check up, James received multiple immunizations: 6 vaccines total (3 shots in one thigh and 2 in the other) and one by mouth. Poor little man! Is it really necessary to give a small little that many all at once?! Ouch! Good thing he will never remember this experience...

Here are his 2 month stats:

Weight: 12 lb 13 oz ~ 75%
Length: 23 in ~ 50%
Head: 41 cm

Here is the play by play:
Sleepy 'before'
Happy boy
Patiently unaware of what's to come
(My heart was racing for him)
Oh my! I teared up and kept apologizing to him. He was so tired and surprised by the all the poking. Although he did let out a few good screams and cries, and turned multiple shades of red, thankfully, this stage didn't last long. After a minute of hugs, kisses and a good cuddle, he quickly passed out and fell asleep.
So far he has been doing great.
I was so worried about how his body would handle all of the vaccines at once.
A little fussy, as to be expected, but has been eating well and sleeping it off. Although you can tell he doesn't feel well (very cuddly and clingy) he doesn't appear to be in pain, just has a low grade fever (99-100). I don't mind cuddling with him all day long!

Little Phil or Little Tamara?!?!

Whenever there is a new baby, it's always fun to compare baby pictures from when Mom & Dad were babies to see whose features the little one wound up with!

Well, lately, whenever someone meets James, the natural reaction is "Oh he looks just like his Dad!" Probably because they are both boys with dark hair and dark eyes. Occasionally, I'll get the "Oh he looks just like you" reassurance. Well, Phil and I have gotten mistaken for brother and sister a few times before (yes, even if I have a ring on my finger), so I guess it might be hard to tell who he looks like. However, I think we can all agree on where he gets his full head of hair from! I know it's hard to tell when he's so young, he really is changing everyday! But, it's still fun for us to see parts of ourselves reflected back at us, in him. Life is amazing.

To us, we think he's a pretty good mix of both his Mama and Daddy. What do you think?!

First Superbowl!

Hope everyone had a great time watching the Superbowl! James sure did. We had a low key Superbowl this year, which was perfect. Good friends Jason and Molly came over, we made Crock pot Shrimp Jambalaya (recipe below) and watched the game (and the commercials).

Although our team (San Francisco!) didn't win, here is the little man in all of his Browns/football glory. Check out those Converse "sneaker" socks too (thanks Uncle George!). And yes, it is still Christmas in this house. I am aware it's February...

Shrimp Jambalaya
*So good, I had to post the recipe. Easy, spicy and delicious. You should make it tonight!

12 oz boneless, skinless chicken breast
8 oz smoked sausage of your choice
8 oz smoked ham, diced
1 green pepper, chopped
1 sweet yellow onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
4 tsp minced garlic
1 1/4 1/2 oz can whole tomatoes
1/3 cup tomato paste
1 cup chicken broth
1 tbs dried parsley
1 1/2 tsp dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 1/2 tsp hot sauce
1 1/2 cayenne pepper
1 tsp black pepper
Add dash of salt to taste
1 lb fresh shrimp, shelled and cleaned
4 cups cooked rice

Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. Add ALL ingredients, except for shrimp and rice into Crock pot. Cook on Low for 8-10 hours or High for 3-4 hours. Add the shrimp in the last 30 minutes of cooking. To serve, pour the Shrimp Jambalaya over rice and enjoy!

Lake Erie Winter

This past weekend, James got to see Lake Erie for the first time!

We dropped Phil off to do some grocery shopping for us, and instead of just driving around the parking lot/block to keep the car moving (and baby sleeping!), I distracted James (and myself) by taking him on a drive around our neighborhood. We paid a drive-by visit to Rocky River beach. Well, he technically may have been sleeping, but I still told him all about the lake, the snow, and how much fun we would have there this summer. Good thing we did! It was a beautiful day. Lake Erie at wintertime is so peaceful!

Aunt Lindsay Visits!

January 19, 2013

This post is a little overdue! A few weeks ago, Aunt Lindsay flew in from Chicago to meet James for the first time! He loved snuggling with her all weekend long. Lindsay got to see all sides of Mr. James and baby life. Not sure if we scared her away from ever having kids or visiting again (ha!) but we had a great time. And, James was actually a trooper. The weather was abnormally nice for January, so we were able to take James with us for a few hours for a much needed ladies day out. James slept through our breakfast and latte conversations, and chaperoned us while we got pedicures! For only being 4 weeks old, he did great! Good job little man!

4 weeks old
Ready for my big outing!
This picture makes me realize how much he has
grown over these last few weeks. Looks so tiny here!

Pedicure success!

Thanks for visiting!
Come back soon!

Instagram

If you have an iPhone, you know what Instagram is.

Lately, I have been obsessed. The different filters have a way of capturing a moment in time better than just a regular picture can. Love it.

Here are a few from the past few weeks...

Jamesy's "Milk Drunk" face!

First real outing. Going to Grandma & Grandpa's
house to see their Christmas tree!
