Happy Birthday to Me!

March 21, 2013

Thursday was my birthday. What a great day!

Although it is technically "Spring" now, I woke up to a blanket of snow outside. James took me to Starbucks for a morning coffee treat, and my girlfriend Casey came over with her 2 year-old son, Evan, to come play around with the camera and take pictures of James in his nursery. Fun morning! Casey was able to get some beautiful shots, and Evan had fun exploring the house and all of James' books/toys! Let's just say I got a good glimpse of what my future holds in just about a year and a half!

That evening, Phil surprised me with dinner reservations and his Mom came over to watch James. This marked our first dinner date out, without the little man. Although I was nervous to leave him for a few hours (I probably talked about him and looked at his picture at least 10 times), I knew he was in good hands. After dinner, we checked in and got the green-light from Grandma that we could continue the night and go to a movie. He did great (thanks Grandma)! We thought it was funny that our first movie sans James was Oz the Great and Powerful, the prequel to the classic, because we were watching The Wizard of Oz the night my water broke!

These pictures mark a big week - last year of my twenties for me, and the beginning of THREE months for James (today, on 3/23)! Perfect way to capture it. I love them all. THANK YOU, Casey!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

James may not be Irish, but you would never know it by his outfit today!

Little man is pretty shamrocked out today. Thanks Grand Mama & Papa Yale for all of the handsome get-up. And, this Mama is looking forward to enjoying a nice cold pint of Guinness and some corned beef! Cheers!!

12 Weeks!

Ah, Sunday mornings. Watching TV on Dad's lap.

Happy 12th week little guy!

TWO Months Old!

February 23, 2013

We cannot believe James is already TWO months old! His two month immunizations delayed the photo shoot posting this month, but here it is!

What we've learned this month...

Jamesy LOVES:
Smiling, raspberries, drooling, babbling, play gym, kicking, kick piano, singing songs and lullabies (especially Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), story time, baths, baby massage, car rides, stroller/shopping cart rides, swing (really just movement of any type), white noise (running water and ocean sounds still win him over), snuggling, being held (both to feel secure and to get a better view), moving his head from side to side very fast, looking at the TV (although we try to keep him from doing so, he always finds it!), sucking on his fist/fingers, soothie pacifier (only the one from the hospital still)

Jamesy DOESN'T LOVE:
Gas, burps, tummy time (even though he's good at it!), hair loss, baby acne

Little man is quite the sweetheart. He is only two months old and still so tiny, but somehow seems so much older to me, like a little old soul. James is very alert and aware of his surroundings, constantly taking it all in. He has phenomenal head control for being only 10 weeks old. So much so that I took the newborn snuzzler out of his car seat, now he sits in there like a big little guy! He started smiling last month, but this month is so much more interactive! He will smile back at you when you smile at him, or talk to him in a higher pitch voice (I think this is why he is so popular with the ladies!). James smiles with his whole face; his eyes get squinty and his whole mouth opens up in excitement. It melts my heart every time. Even at 4 am. We think he is on the brink of laughing, but not quite there yet. He is very observant, he watches my mouth when I talk, and you can see the wheels turning. He will try to "talk back" by moving his mouth around and giving out little whispers, coos and his latest favorite, raspberries! He definitely babbles in true "Gibbs" boy fashion. All those years of practice for Dad making strange noises is now coming back full circle! James is growing and changing everyday and it is so exciting to watch. He amazes us daily, such a joy!

First Walk!

March 10, 2013

After weeks and weeks of snow and freezing temperatures, we finally had a nice break in the weather this past weekend. The weather was in the 60's and it felt like spring. Everyone was out and about trying to soak up the day. Since we spend all of our time indoors, James and I were itching to get out and get some fresh air. So, we had our first family walk in the metro parks! We think James enjoyed it (we sure did), he slept the whole time! This marked the second time we actually used our stroller (the first time was at the car show, which I do not have any pictures of). Looking forward to spring, when I can take James on walks daily!
